Edifier MR3 Review: Classy Desk Speakers That Punch Above Their Price

I wanted better sound for my PC setup without turning my desk into a speaker showroom. The Edifier MR3s turned out to be the right balance.

Sound

They sound great for a desk setup. Games, music and videos all sound noticeably better than anything I’d get from a monitor or a cheap pair of computer speakers.

Looks and size

These look really classy on my desk. They read as proper studio monitors, not plastic computer speakers. They also don’t take up too much space, which matters when they’re sharing the desk with a keyboard, mouse, monitor and everything else.

The trade-offs

They have a fairly small footprint for speakers like this, but they may still take up more desk space than some people would like, so measure first if your desk is tight. They also don’t have a ton of bells and whistles compared to more expensive speakers.

Value

For what they cost, they feel like really good value. You can spend a lot more on desk speakers, and I don’t feel like I’m missing out.
